Cool things turned to scary things.

1. A father and son train spotter with booklets, pens and a blue ruler comparing notes.
2. A couple arguing about who hit who first, who will take the daughter, currently in the mothers arms, who is worst in bed. The funeral they have just been to. The splif the dad just had and how he has a drink problem. There were things thrown including a pram into a train window(didnt break). The kid was put on the table between them and they discussed law settlements.

Cool things I've seen on my journey

1. A couple with a tin of travel sweets, the ones you have when your in a car and always remind you of feeling sick.
2. A train 'car wash'. It looked old. Two metal sheets about the size of a landrover stood on either side of the tracks. four yellow spinny material things stood inside the metal sheets ready to clean the train. it looked out of use and dirty!
3. A lady offer a carton of juice to a student who told his girlfriend he was thirsty.

Fish Bowl

Its late at night and i'm a rough part of London.

....Maybe its not really rough, but i've been a spoilt totnesian for two years now and I'm not used to the graffiti and boarded up buildings anymore.... I feel a little uneasy.

I am alone at the train station, which is dog eared and in need of repair. The bench I am sitting on is broken and it is uncomfortable but i'm trying to ignore it. I put in my ear phones to distract myself.

I hear someone walking down my side of the platform. There is small cough and then a massive HAWWWWWWWKKKEEEEEE!! which almost makes me jump and then the sound of someone spitting on the floor.

The platform worker in his orange london overground jacket appears from around the side of the concrete toliet block and does a double take - he'd handn't realised I was there.

I pretend I hadn't heard him spit further up the platform and I smile as he walks past.

He crosses over from the otherside of the platform and sits in the glass waiting room on the otherside (which looks like a bus stop). He stares at me until my train comes and I stare back - he reminds me of an orange fish in a fish tank.

"Yes once, this man was sitting next to me, and there was a guy opposite. I was watching him. He was reading a magazine and every so often he would rip off a bit of eat and eat it. Then he got a cup of tea and spilt the milk all over the table and when he went to get a tissue to mop it up the guy next to me said 'Have you been watching him? I cant help it' haha" Joe

Smellage?

Do all train stations smell the same or does it depend on the people who reside in them?
Does the air and train scent blot out the atoms of people smell?

❊ Berlin: commuter trains smell of many things, not all of them pleasant: wet umbrellas, body odor, unwashed dogs, kebab and currywurst, sometimes spilled beer or schnapps.Berlin has announced plans to lace the trains with its very own de-odoring odour, the S-Bahn perfume.

❊ New York: Herald Square (34th Street) seems to get the award for smelliest station.

❊ Paris Metro: a blend of sweat, perfume and burned rubber. 

❊ UK: Apparently Virgin Trains smell of sewerage because they have placed the toilet tank vent too near to the Air Conditioning intake.

And for malodours on public transport services, companies can get their own fragrance created.
